There with all the new digital formats, it's no wonder that there is considerable confusion about EDTV and HDTV. First of all, EDTV stands for Enhanced Definition Television, while HDTV stands for High Definition Television. TVs come with one of these formats, and to receive the images in digital potraying – both in terms of visual quality is better than standard TV (SDTV).

EDTV, however, was not done for a competitor for HDTV, but a transition technology that was better than standard, but not all high definition modes, such as HDTV. And although Enhanced Definition Television (HDTV) have not been able to combine exceptional quality of life in high definition television (HDTV) will be attributed, its image is actually closer to HDTV television standard. Be advised, however, you need a set-top box to buy an external (Advanced Television Systems Committee), ATSC tuner to receive digital HDTV programming. Many cable and satellite providers, if they are able to offer HDTV content offering, this tuner for free. One final note, you might consider buying aLCD TV, as most are HDTV, and do the best job in beautiful HD display images.
