Using the Power of Vested Emotion to beyond doubt double Sales

We humans are strange creatures. We all think we are rational, clear-minded people. In fact, economic theories and such has been built on the assumption that humans are rational.

The question is… Unlike who we opinion we are, we admittedly are irrational creatures. You and I don’t act rationally. In his enlightening book “Predictably Irrational”, Dan Ariely clearly demonstrated the irrationality of the human brain.

The good news is… You can exploit this “human loophole” to your advantage. It’s easy once you know it. In fact, I’ll show you how to pull one off right here! But first, let me prove it to you that vested emotions do exist.

One the most irrational things you and I do is vesting emotions. You might have heard of the saying “Sell the sizzle not the steak”. It works because we are driven by emotions, not logic.

Here’s an example:You’re in a cafeteria and you ordered a “small” steak because the restaurant’s unbelievably expensive, and it turns out to be the size of your thigh.

According to economic theories (assuming you’re rational), you’ll effort to “maximize utility”. You eat what you want and you throw the rest away because stuffing yourself when you’re already full is obviously not very pleasant. But what do you admittedly do?

You think to yourself, “Throwing it away would be a waste.” So you stuff that human-thigh-size into yourself until your stomach admittedly can’t take it. What you’re admittedly thinking is, “I’ve paid a lot for this, so I must close it.” “Waste” is only an excuse to rationalize.

Unfortunately, we do this all the time. And the devotee marketers working for Amazon are aware of it… And they flawlessly took benefit of it. One of the technique they implemented to do that is to introduce “Amazon Prime”.

For those of you who are not aware of “Amazon Prime”, it’s a membership where you pay a flat fee of per year to get free two-day shipping for that whole year. Now, you might think it benefits you but really, it makes you spend more money on Amazon.

What you do is then think, “Since I’ve already paid , I might as well make full use of it.” So you buy things you wouldn’t usually buy because you can now rationalize that “I don’t have to pay for the shipping”. Things such as a Hdtv where shipping would usually cost .

And now you relocate all your shopping to Amazon, even though it might be slightly more expensive… But hey, shipping is free right?

Do you see what I mean? Amazon has clearly seen corollary or they would have taken down the system. So how does this apply to you?

Well, do the same thing! payment a flat “membership” fee for free shipping or even discounts on your product. It’s leading to payment them for it… Giving the membership away for free does not have the same corollary because then people do not have any vested emotions in it.
